Today I felt inspired to write an article that I’m sure will appeal to the voyeur in us all. Let’s face it, we’ve all been to the odd open house when we’re not in the market to buy, simply to see how others live. But what really catches our attention are those great articles and Instagram shots of celebrities’ homes and how they live (even though most of us could never imagine having the facilities and help that most of them have). Rumour has it, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have even built a birthing room in their home – so you get my point.
But let’s take a look at some of the most organised celebrities, and I thought it would be interesting to move out of the closet (I mean this literally, not figuratively) and check out some other spaces in their homes.
But just remember, you too, regardless of the size or style of your home, can be super organised like these A-list celebs – just check out some of my past blogs as a starting point, I’ve suggested lots of simple tips and tricks to get you started. And of course, your wardrobe will be super easy to start on, just get yourself a handbag hanger.
Now to our celebs. Most organised celebrity number one has got to be Gwyneth Paltrow. But let me warn you, before you look, just put aside that part of your personality that may be prone to envy, and remember, these celebs have an almost endless supply of funds and assistance to achieve these results. Plus, we all know they’ve done a massive tidy up before even taking these shots – just as you don’t post images of yourself on Facebook with lipstick on your teeth when smiling; these celebs edit their lives in a major way – so don’t be fooled! In fact, a company called The Home Edit is responsible for organising Gwyneth’s Hampton’s home.
First up, check out Gwyneth’s pantry. On their Instagram, The Home Edit comment on how they organised by colour, size and purpose – great tips.

Then they took on the kids’ playroom. The room was divided into activities on one side, and leisure on the right. Zones were created for reading, games, art, crafts, science etc. But just imagine how this room looks now after the kids’ first play dates – definitely not like this I’d say. Anyway, it’s a vision of order to be appreciated regardless.

In close second place is Kourtney Kardashian, and her pantry. No doubt her army of organisational experts got well paid for this – the result is sensational. One thing I can definitely relate to that I also do is remove items from plastic containers. And who'd have thought I’d have something in comment with the eldest of Kardashian sisters (although the glass containers are where the similarity ends).
According to Kourt: "I like to store food in glass or stainless steel and I try to avoid having plastic in the house. When we get new cereal, rice, grains, sugar, or flour, I recycle the original packaging and transfer everything into glass jars. This way, everything looks really organized and uncluttered. I also put stickers on the bottom with the expiration date, so we know everything is still fresh… I like to keep items that come in bags and loose packaging in structured woven baskets. Each basket is organized into sections like baking supplies, snacks for kids, spices, tea, etc. I hang little tags on each bin so it looks nice, but is easy to find if we're looking for something. This method can be used for open shelves in your closet or office too - pretty, uniform bins are a great way to store items and make a space feel clean and organized."

So now I’m inspired to now see if I can take my panty organization a step further – I’ll be off to grab some swing tags and baskets on the weekend. What about you?
And in Kourt’s study – she keeps her books organised in rainbow fashion i.e. books with the same colour spines are arranged together.
Whilst we’re on the Kardashians, let’s have a sticky beak at Khloé’s medicine cabinet. I’m not sure what kind of parties and guests the star has ‘round to her place, but by the looks of her medicine cabinet things must get rowdy at her joint.

Now for the room I know you all wish you had (or maybe not). A crafting room, yep, you heard me, a crafting room. This beauty belongs to Alyson Hannigan of How I Met Your Mother fame. She has wooden crates filled with fabrics and plastic containers filled with DIY essentials (not sure when DIY became essential actually). Just like having your own Spotlight at home; this would be top of the list for my youngest daughter, if we had a room like this I wouldn’t see her until every last bit of fabric, glue and sequins was used up.

Now back into the closet for a moment. This I love. Abigail Spencer (from Suits) has her shoes collection beautifully organised, and this is something we can all do. Just visit your local $2 shop (where nothing costs $2), stock up on plastic containers and organised away.

Finally, Jenna Lyons (Fashion Designer and ex J. Crew head) and her sensational organised chaos. Apparently there’s method to the madness – the vintage trunks make for great storage; and the full-wall mood board chock full of inspiration no doubt keeps the creative juices flowing.
